Friendship
Dear Stranger
Thanks for introducing me to the word called friendship. I cannot thank you enough for all that you've taught me. Love, affection, faithfulness, motivation, and most of all, loyalty. It is so easy to start liking a person, but it is difficult to accept the same person for what he is along with his good and bad qualities. We often forget that there is nothing that is perfect. Humanity is imperfection and we, as humans are the perfect examples of imperfections. So why do we keep looking at the negative things in others? We do, because we think that we live in a world where we are perfect, where everybody else is just as simple as us, where there is no politics and no corruption, where people who appreciate us mean every iota of what they say. We forget that the world is a spherical illusion but like Oscar Wilde said, " it takes a great deal to see the world in all it's tainted glory and still love it", we fail to see the tainted images in ourselves. A friend on the other hand is someone who sees that flaw in you, accepts you with everything you are and everything you are not and is still someone with whom you can share every bit of that horrible day and every bit of the brilliant memories you have about life. A friend is one with whom you can chat for hours, do late night talks like nothing else matters or meet after a month and still feel the same passion and trust that you had when you met the last time .

Friends make life simple, they make life beautiful and most importantly, they make life meaningful. They take every flaw in you and show you what you are capable of doing and what you can aspire for. They are your best competitions yet your worst competitors. The strong bond of friendship is not always a balanced equation, it's not always about giving and taking in equal shares, instead, friendship is grounded in a feeling wherein you know exactly who will be there for you when you need something no matter what or when.
We rarely know a person when we first shake hands with him/her in school, yet as a kid, we don't try to judge them, we just take the leap, move forward and go for it. No matter how onerous it has been for me to make friends, the ones I have earned are truely special. Although a few, but they're really special and there hasn't been a single day when I haven't thanked my destiny to have met with such amazing people and to have them in my life. A friend is a true treasure and like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam said : " One best book is equal to hundred good friends but one good friend is equal to a library".
So dear stranger who is no longer one,
thanks for being a true friend, thanks for being there every time I felt lonely, thanks for telling me what it meant to care for someone and what it meant to be loved, thanks for correcting me as well teaching me all of those things which I thought I knew but I actually did not, thanks for knowing all my weaknesses yet always showing me the best of my strengths.
:-)
